Not All Airbnb Discounts Are Equal
The percentage you choose can affect how Airbnb presents your discount. Hosts should understand the thresholds before giving away revenue.

If you're going to give up part of your nightly rate, you should understand what you're getting in exchange.
One of the useful details shared at Airbnb Host Week involved how Airbnb presents discounts.
According to the information presented, a discount of at least 10% can trigger crossed-out pricing, while 15% can receive an additional callout.
That Makes the Threshold Important
Imagine offering a 9% discount.
You're still reducing the rate significantly.
But if another percentage receives stronger visual treatment, the difference between the two may matter more than the one percentage point suggests.
This doesn't mean you should automatically increase every discount.
It means you should understand what Airbnb does with the number you choose.
Weekly, Monthly and Early-Bird Discounts
Another takeaway from Host Week was Airbnb's emphasis on weekly, monthly and early-bird discounts.
These are tools the platform clearly wants hosts to consider.
Again, that doesn't make them automatically profitable.
They still have to fit the property's pricing strategy.
Discount Intentionally
Before choosing a percentage, ask two questions:
How much am I giving away?
What am I receiving in return?
If a specific threshold creates stronger presentation or visibility, that information belongs in the decision.
Discounting should be strategy, not a random number typed into a setting.

Why I Create Airbnb Discounts Inside Airbnb, Not PriceLabsA host asked a question in our Facebook group yesterday about discounts and PriceLabs, and it got me thinking. I use dynamic pricing, but when I want to offer an additional discount to Airbnb guests, I prefer creating it inside Airbnb. The underlying rate can continue to fluctuate, while Airbnb gets the opportunity to actually merchandise the discount.
